I think you’ve made some truly interesting points. Not too many people would actually think about this the way you just did.

It's worse than that.

While your FAXXflaw month was definitely interesting, and important work (though sadly not very surprising), a cynic (such as myself) would tend to just write off Facebook - indeed, perhaps the whole social networking scene - as "hardly important".
Sure, you wanna use Facebook, just accept that its all public, and insecure, and we'll be fine. Just dont' trust Facebook at all. It's not like I'm banking on Facebook, right?

But, as I said, it's worse than that.
Y'see, now that Facebook is so ubiquitious, it can be used to attack you in ways you never thought of, in places you never expected. How 'bout when you're not even ON Facebook??
Check out the posts on http://blog.quaji.com/, explaining some of the design flaws here. It's not my blog, but I did help that researcher with some of the research and analysis (leading to the latest installment).

In a single sentence (just in case you're not interested in clicking that), Just by having a Facebook account, can de-anonymize you whereever you go in the interwebz.
That's right, the Facebook platform enables ANY website to automatically identify you, know who you are, and pull down a bunch of info on you... Sort of an actual Identity Service for the Internet. Whether you like it or not.

Newsflash! Their in business to make money. I don't know if your naive or what but 'Facebook' is hardly important.

To give them credit, they're good about going after spammers. Also their the ones building this. It hasn't been that long. This is all new and things are constantly improving.

Your tired with your white knight activities? Get a job, or better, a girl. Maybe from Facebook!.
